See it in action
The stone glides underneath. You stay in control of every stroke.
Six reasons it's not like the others
Every motorized sharpener on the market makes you give up something. The Stone Rocker doesn't.
You hold the knife
No clamps. No vise. No marks on the spine of your $400 chef knife. You stay in control of every stroke and you feel exactly what's happening at the edge.
Dual adjustable guides
Both sides set independently. Want an asymmetric grind on a sushi knife? Done. Easy side-flips mean you stay in rhythm instead of fighting the machine.
Edge leading or edge trailing
Aggressive metal removal or burr-free finishing — your call. The Stone Rocker is built for both expert techniques.
Zero heat damage
Belt sharpeners cook the temper out of high-end steel. The Stone Rocker uses linear stone motion with wet stones — your blade's heat treatment stays untouched, every time.
Tune the motion to your touch
Adjust speed, acceleration, deceleration, and pause between strokes. The machine behaves the way you want it to — not the other way around.
Handmade in Canada
Built and tested by hand on a workbench, not stamped out in a factory. Every unit goes out under the maker's own eye, one at a time.
How The Stone Rocker works
Four steps. Sharp knives forever.
Mount your stone
Fits most standard 6"×1" stones — water, oil, or diamond.
Set the guides
Dial in each side independently. Set it once and the geometry stays locked.
Dial in the motion
Choose your speed, acceleration, and pause timing. The motor behaves how you want.
Hold and slide
Rest the blade against the guide. Slide the knife as the stone glides beneath. Flip when you're ready.

What pros are saying
Real reactions from real bladesmiths and reviewers.
"I used The Stone Rocker to sharpen a chef's knife that I just finished. It went great — and the knife tested 33 on my BESS tester."— Daniel Moye, Bladesmith at Cattle Dog Forge
For reference: factory-fresh production knives typically test BESS 200–400 (lower = sharper). Daniel's result reflects his skill and process — individual results vary.
"I never see something like this before."— Jared, Neeves Knives

Meet Christian
The maker behind The Stone Rocker.
I'm Christian. I'm a dad of two. My wife and I homeschool our kids in Calgary, Alberta. And The Stone Rocker started on our kitchen table.
It began with a frustration. I watched too many good knives get destroyed by sharpeners that were supposed to save them. Belt grinders cooking the temper out of $400 chef knives. Clamp systems leaving permanent marks on Japanese blades. Pull-throughs grinding the geometry into a butter knife edge.
There had to be a better way. So I started building one.
Two years of iteration later, The Stone Rocker became the machine I wanted to use myself. The stone glides. You slide the knife. The geometry stays locked. The temper stays intact.
Every unit ships from our Calgary workshop, hand-assembled and tested by me before it leaves. When you order one, that's the unit that came across my workbench.
I built it for people who refuse to surrender their favorite blade to a machine. If that's you — welcome.

Frequently asked questions
The straight answers, no fluff.
How does it actually work?
You mount a standard 6"×1" sharpening stone in the carriage. The motor glides the stone back and forth underneath the blade. You rest your knife against the precision angle guide and slide it across the stone. The guide holds the geometry. You stay in full control of the knife.
Why no clamps?
Clamps mark up the spine of expensive knives and force a fixed grip. The Stone Rocker is built for people who refuse to surrender their best blades to a machine. You hold the knife, you feel the edge, you control the stroke.
Will it damage my expensive knives?
No. Belt sharpeners and high-speed grinders generate heat that destroys the temper of high-carbon and super steels. The Stone Rocker uses wet stones moving in a linear glide — no heat, no temper damage, no edge cooking. Safe on Japanese, high-carbon, powder steels, and traditional carbon blades.
What currency are your prices in?
All prices on our site are in Canadian Dollars (CAD). USD equivalents are shown for reference. Final charges depend on the current exchange rate at the time of purchase — your bank or card provider will handle the conversion automatically.
What kind of stones does it use?
Most standard 6"×1" sharpening stones fit — waterstones, oilstones, diamond plates, ceramic. If you already collect stones, most will fit straight into the carriage. If you don't have stones yet, we sell a curated 3-stone PDT diamond kit that covers most jobs and is matched to the system.
Can I do edge-leading and edge-trailing strokes?
Yes — both. The Stone Rocker is built for serious sharpeners who use edge-leading for aggressive metal removal and edge-trailing for clean, burr-free finishing.
Can each side of the blade be a different angle?
Yes. The two angle guides are independent — set them however you want. That means asymmetric grinds (common on Japanese knives) and custom geometries are fully possible.
How much control do I have over the motor?
Full control over speed, acceleration, deceleration, and the pause between strokes. The Stone Rocker adapts to your style — short delicate strokes on a paring knife, longer powerful strokes on a chef's knife — without changing how you hold the blade.
Where is it made and shipped from?
Hand-assembled in Canada, one at a time. We ship internationally. Each unit is tested before it leaves the bench.
